From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of heroes who will separate from the main group to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his own means, breaking into the secret base, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the group enter locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the players to form the Explorers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on the upcoming Thursday.
